Alicante, one of the most well-known towns on the Costa Blanca (Spain), is vibrant with life since early morning. In one of the stands of the local stadium you could see three elegant men, chatting with each other in a foreign language. This trio were Legia Warszawa representatives, who came to Spain seeking football talents. To be exact, they were Mirosław Trzeciak (sport director of "Wojskowi"), Krystian Grzelak (new manager of the team) and Rajmund Durczok (head of the scouts). These gentlemen showed up on the Hercules Alicante training with a clear task. They were here to observe the right defender, Manuel Ruz. During the training, the youngest of those three, new Legia manager spoke to his principal:
- Miro, look how how he moves on the pitch, he is a real genius. Show me one player in Ekstraklasa, who marks and tackles that good.
- Umm, we have Inaki... - started the sport director, with a dose of uncertainty.
- Yes, yes. We have Descarga and Szala, I know. Yet they are not as young as they once were and their current form doesn't even guarantee them a place in our first team - after these words, Trzeciak was left speechless.
- Krystian is right. Manuel Ruz is strong, agile and have a great stamina. We need someone like that on our right flank of the defense. Gentlemen, look on the field again. You surely see how good he cooperates with his team mates, how great he plays off the ball. Not to mention his fantastic positioning, composure and concentration - my dear friends, I am sure he will quickly become a leading star not only in our club, but in the whole league. Moreover, he began his football career in famous Valencia - Rajmund Durczok decided to state his own mind.
- Exactly. The lad should soon be a Legia key player. Can you hear me? We have to get him!
A few months later:
- You see, Miro? It was worth to spend that 400k EUR on Manuel. We haven't had such a good right defender for a long time. Who even remebers Descarga now? This lad is fantastic and he is only 22. I think we will have to travel to Spain again. We lack a real goalhunter. Let's get some rest, there is another long travel ahead of us.
