An issue related to assistant manager's inactivity has been observed
We have had a few news on Football Manager 2011 recently, but now we take a look at an issue the users from SI forums had encountered with the job that an assistant manager does. Ever wondered what your assistant does while you are 'on holiday'?

Having a good professional in a club's staff is priceless. However, it is often the case in Football Manager, especially at the beginning of a career, that the managers do not quite trust their assistants. It is the reason why the managers, before going on holiday, tell their assistants to stick the original game plan. Some managers finally lean towards giving the assistant more control over a team. It should be easy then to determine the true managerial abilities of the assistant. In fact, though, it is not so obvious as it may seem. A user from Sports Interactive Forums decided to give a full control of a team to their assistant and did not tell him to stick to the current team's tactics. However, as it turned out, the formation was never changed and the tactics remained the same. Curiously enough, the scenario was the same even if such absurd formations were used as 10-0-0. The assistant did not care when an opponent had 50 shoots on target during a match either. A comment concerning this matter has been made by Neil Brock - he said (perhaps a little enigmatically) there may be some troubles when such absurd formations are used. Another reason may be the assistant's good judgement as he decided to stick to the tactics that were successfully used before. The experiences with an assistant manager looks a bit of buggy though, and they seem to deprecate a little the value of an assistant manager. Fortunately, Neil Brock assured the FM fans the issue has been already investigated by the relevant people, and the problem should not occur in the upcoming FM release.
