Everybody would like to add something new to the game from themselves. The contact with the makers through Sports Interactive’s forum gives such an opportunity. The forum is a place where programmers listen to requests and suggestions from gamers. Today, I would like to present you ideas, which have recently appeared on the “shortlist” of two FM-maniacs using the forum.

VMX brought to attention the news filter. His idea was to add an option, which would enable us to select information about one particular player. It would be easy to find comments in the media concerning our footballer, when and with whom he was picked up to the team of the week, if he's used to be late for trainings, or if he ate chocolate ice-cream. Apart from that VMX proposed changes in the player's profile, so that next to information about bookings, injuries, and condition there is a place for information headlines concerning the footballer. After the click on the headline, we would be moved automatically to the full information in the mail box. Of course in the profile of the player, only recent headlines about him would be present, so that everything looks nice and clear. Craig Hunter, one of the employees of SI also known as Ter, liked this idea but announced that technological matters could be a problem – a database with so much information would increase in size. However, makers will try to overcome these difficulties.

The next brave one, who posted his propositions, is cdeacon. He presented a rich info on Ryan Giggs’s career. The idea concerns an addition of information about the previous successes of the footballer in his profile. What for? Firstly, such a screen in the player’s profile looks as nicely as it is in the case of clubs. Secondly, it is useful during the game. Every virtual manager would be happy if he heard that his player wants to win Champions League before his retirement. In Football Manager 2008 such information are saved in achievements of a footballer, but we can read only about what happened during the game. Successes from 1992 are not available. In this case, Ter had the same opinion as it was in the case of VMX. The initiative itself is very interesting, but we do not know if the game could associate who played in the final of what cup. It would be much easier if we only considered the league competitions.
On the SI forum, we can see a growing interest in the new version of the game. But there is a long time till autumn…
