Second dimension will not slow down FM Handheld

The game has been optimized in order to watch 2D as pleasantly as on PC/Mac
In spite of Football Manager Fans' presumptions, 2D mode in FHM 2009 neither influences the efficiency of the game, nor slows down the game. Makers achieved satisfactory results thanks to shortening key moments of a match to the essential minimu

However, there are some limits of 2D presentation of a match on PlayStation Portable because this mode is only a supplement to the text commentary. A player will only be able to watch final stages of key moments of a match e.g. the moment of crossing and what follows it. According to makers, it will make the game smooth (it will be possible to play one season within a day) and enable managers to observe players behaviour. One question concerns a probable influence of 2D mode on the result of a match. Programmers claim that 2D mode is only a graphic presentation of the engine and does not process any other information that could change a sequence on the pitch. 3D mode on PC/Mac is an analogous case – it is only a three – dimensional visualisation of the engine. It is worth mentioning that handheld 2D mode is totally different than the one from PC but retains a sufficient realism level. Another important information is that programmers have not decided to add an option of selecting numbers for players. They explain it with too much data which PSP would have to keep in its memory. Such an attitude shows the way of development of Football Manager Handheld – focusing on improving elements of the game, increasing data base and a number of available leagues, so that the game would be fast enough including as much information as possible.
