The patch is not for Football Manager 2011 installed through the Steam or CD version for PC or Mac. It does not contain any transfer data or game fixes but was released only to eliminate installation and activation problems of the users who downloaded Byteshield/Digital version together with the 11.1.1 patch. It is recommended to remove Football Manager 2011 from the disk prior to the installation, and then install it again by using the ESD system. This will ensure the files which might affect proper working of the fix are removed.
