News
We would like to present to you Sports Interactive's youngest child.
All the signs in the sky point to a conclusion that the premiere of Football Manager Live will really take place this summer. But still it's such an overall impression, that no one really knows when to expect the game to come out...
However, at the same time it's concrete enough to start seriously preparing ourselves for it. That is why we are beginning now with a new series of news which we called Road to FM Live, in which we will try to present the game to you. Present it objectively, even though it won't be an easy job, since it is hard to be objective once you try playing FM Live. Present it quite broadly, however with that there might be some trouble as well, since it is such a complex game. I'm already starting to think if "complex" is perhaps not a subjective opinion, therefore we shall get to the point.
First of all it is important to remember to choose an appropriate name for your team, so later you don't regret your decision. Later you give all the necessary basic information - name, date of birth and nationality. Right after signing in for the first time, we will be welcomed by the Setup Assistant, which will help us get familiar with the world of FM Live. It offers us a seven-step program:
1. Read thewelcome guide, the five-page document explaining the main rules of the game and the concept which it bases on.
2. Customize your club which allows you to choose your colours and kits and name your stadium. All of that can be modified in the future.
3. Chooseyour managerial style. Here, you have to decide what is most important for you - developing your players' skills, finding new footballers, or maybe perfecting your tactics? The choice is important, since that will determine your basic skills as a manager. There will be more about that in the next part of Road to FM Live.
4. Auto select squad, allow the game to randomly choose players, basing the choice on a few factors (total wages, number of players for each position, age range, nationality and club bias) that will decide on the kind of footballers that join your team. That squad we can right away submit, or modify it a bit, since we have time to change the players until we decide it is ready. It is important however, to make sure that the total price we pay for the players (footballes with a free contact cost some money in FM Live - more detail will be given in the next parts of Road to FM Live) does not exceed our budget and that the wages do not go over our possible incomes. If we do not wish to worry about any of that - we just leave it for the blind luck.
5. Submit your team and join the game! After that you can start playing the actual game. It is worth mentioning, that after submitting the team we will not be able to get rid of our players for a week (same thing happens with bought players later on in the game).
6. Find an opponent.
7. Join a federation.
The last two steps are parts of the actual game, therefore they will be discussed in greater detail some other time. It is, dear ladies and gentlemen, just the beginning...
