Road to FM 2010 – New leagues

One of the „Come and I will show you, what is new in FM 2010” news' series.

Miles Jacobson has been writing about new features of FM 2010 for at least three weeks, but it does not mean that he is the only one who can do it. So, today we begin with our own traditional series of news called Road to FM 2010.

A real revolution in this year's version of Football Manager will be the possibility of adding new leagues and running the inactive tournaments, prepared in the official database of the game. We will surely be assailed by lots of such add-ons by the end of the year. I have decided to run the Faroe Islands League. In the next news, I will show you how to do this, but now let's move to the technical side of such changes. You have to remember that all of them are saved as XML files. So, at the start of the game you can see a window that allows us to load or change the options of the leagues, that had been chosen earlier.

Now, we have the default database leagues and the ones added by us.

By ticking the appropriate files, we can add more countries or divisions for the existing ones. What is interesting, if we make a mistake and it has not been discovered by the editor, the chosen country will be grayed-out and a message about e.g. the lacking clubs will appear. So, the producers want to narrow down the possible „surprises” during the gameplay.

The only thing left to do is to launch the game...

...and we will be able to choose our favourite team and later enjoy playing in a new league.
