As we could imagine, apart from the PC version, FM 2010 will also be available on macs, as well as on PlayStation Portable (PSP). Out of the most important new features itemised, the new tactical system, match analysis tools, and the new interface are particularly noteworthy. But what exactly the said innovations will bring? Thanks to implementation of the new match engine the users will be able to shout out tactical instructions for their players directly from outside the touchline! It means we will now be able to change tactics without having to to leave the match screen. We will also be able to assign players to certain roles – apart from “free role” and “target man” there will also be new types of players.
The new match analysis tools will give us the chance of an insight into our players' performances. We will find out from which areas of the pitch each of our players made attempts at goal, passed, crossed, and headed the ball, tackled and fouled opponents. This will allow us to determine a player's strong and weak points even more accurately, and choose optimum match tactics.
Football Manager 2010 is also equipped with new user interface, what we mentioned a month ago. In addition to a new skin, the navigation tools has undergone a thorough redecoration. They are now situated in top part of the screen what is to facilitate the navigation and make the game more accessible to new users.
We have some good news for the updaters as well – Sports Interactive prepared a completely new data base editor which will allow editing and adding new leagues! Updating the game will be easier than ever, however the makers do not say how is it going to be done – thus we are left to trust Miles & Co. Another addition is an ingame newsletter so now every manager will be able to chose the events he is interested in the most.
The highly controversial 3D view has also undergone a renovation process. Players' AI was enhanced, news stadiums were added, as well as fans, better lightning, and a realistic pitch deterioration on top of over a 100 new animations.
As you can see there is plenty of new features yet it is hard to tell of a revolution in the game itself. Nonetheless, Football Manager 2010 with the included data editor seems to be really interesting. I can promise that equally interesting will be onCM Revolution as well, where we will aim to prepare you for the première of the newest Sports Interactive game as well as possible. You can expect more news in the nearest future, so stay tuned!
