Football Manager producers introduce a new game activation system
Every lucky Windows Vista owner knows that the activation over the Internet or phone is a standard. Yet no one expected that Football Manager 2009 would be part of such practices.
SI Games and SEGA decided to fight potential piracy by using unprecedented methods. The most basic weapon will be the electronic activation. It could be done by the already well-known Steam, but not only. Those, who do not use it, will be able to active the game through Uniloc service, and those without the Internet connection will have phone lines at their disposal. The entire online process takes only a few seconds, and the phone activation up to five minutes.
What is important is that we can have the game installed on five computers at the same time what allows us to enjoy the game whether we are at home, at work or on holiday. One has to remember, though, that the possibility of using five licences DOES NOT MEAN we can give them out. The licence simply allows the user to play the game without any restrictions as to the place of installation.
Another interesting information is if we uninstall the game from one computer its licence becomes “free” again and can be used on another computer. It is an interesting option for those who upgrade their hardware frequently.
Should our computer break down and we are unable to uninstall the game there is a possibility of using the deactivating URL which allows us to retrieve the licence without the necessity of physical removal. If a user wants to sell the game the deactivating URL can be used for retrieving all licences so the buyer will be able to use the game without any restrains.
SEGA also informs that the latest FM version should not block because of certain software, such as Alcohol 120% or D-Tools provided the users are not trying to use them to “get into” the game.
