FM 2010 not for stationary consoles

The next release of Football Manager will be available only for PC and PSP

By not releasing the latest version of the game, SI decided not to create Football Manager series on stationary consoles. Nothing is going to change in this regard concerning the upcoming version - it will come in PC and PSP releases.

The affair between Sports Interactive and consoles did not last long, although it dates back to the times of Championship Manager when the legendary 2001/2002 game version debuted on Xbox. The game was a success and SI decided to release another game version – CM 2002/2003 – for Microsoft's console exclusively, as PCs had CM4 then. The next games dedicated on consoles were Football Manager 2006 released on Xbox 360, and the next two game versions that followed every year. These titles however, did not appeal either to the fans and creators of the games, and that way FM 2009 was not released on Microsoft's console.

It is very likely that the same will be with Football Manager 2010 – yesterday, Miles Jacobson confirmed they work on PC and handheld console Sony PlayStation Portable versions (FM Handheld is released every year since 2006). Bad news as it may be for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 owners, it will surely make the majority of the fans happy, as SI will be able to devote more attention to PC version. That said, the rivalry between FM and CM, whose creators also focus on PC release only, is getting even more interesting.
