Sports Interactive and SEGA reveal further news about the latest game version
Sports Interactive made us used to making use of digital distribution channels. This year we face a major change which will surely make more people buy the game in the standard way…
It is the change of software - Football Manager 2009 will be available for legal downloading for a fee through Steam ((you can make an order already) from 10 AM at 14th November. Therefore you can dare to declare, that those who opt to purchase a game using this way will have the opportunity to become familiar with it as the first ones. The download will content quite a lot of data (according to recent Miles Jacobson’s declarations it will have between 2 and 4 GB – the move to DVDs has left it’s mark), however, Steam can identify which files are needed to run the software, and therefore you can play the game even if it is not fully downloaded.
Getting back to the main topic - the use of the highly sophisticated software gives many new opportunities to the fans - even those who are buying the game in the. Each copy of the game - boxed or digital – can be registered through Steam getting the access to options such as automatic update of Football Manager 2009 (and thus the possibility to download patches – if needed - literally seconds after their publication) and playing without the CD in the drive on different computers. For the digital version the installation on multiple machines is a real novelty. The situation is opposite for the boxed one – so, as you can see, everyone gets something new.
A Football Manager 2009 demo is said to be released a few weeks before the full version premiere and it will be available through Steam too. To all those who do not like the technological innovations – stay calm, it will be possible to download the game using the old way, therefore without using any additional software.
