Extensive press conferences

Everything you say can be used against you!

Meetings with journalists in FM 2008 surely were not good enough. Players keep complaining rather loudly and call openly for a drastic change.

It was like that: journalists get to us immediately after the match, maybe even in the corridors of the building. They ask a question and we give a short and rather laconic response. End of interaction. What we said did not have any specific impact on the surrounding reality (well, sometimes one of our players said two words about our statements) and the journalist forgot the whole "interview" a minute later. In FM 2009 everything will change...

The amount of information that we receive during the conference has increased - we know how many journalists appeared, which media do they represent and why the club have decided to call it. We get to know each journalist’s personal information and his attitude towards us. Miles Jacobson ensures us that this time the relationship between journalists and managers will evolve during the game and all speeches will be remembered. For example, storming out of a conference will surely have an impact on the journalist’s future behavior. To sum up: we will have to pay for our sins sooner or later but we can count on the reporter’s support too.

More detailed look at the screenshots allows us to discover another new element. If we decide to add something apart from our answer we have full freedom to do so. We can say anything and type it using our keyboard. Nevertheless, the contents of our additional speech are unlikely to have any impact on the game. It is hard to imagine that Football Manager will interpret what we type and this will probably be used only in news informing you of the conference. However, we can escape from answering the inconvenient questions casting an offensive text towards the reporters in their language. Isn’t that nice?

We can of course inform journalists that the time for conference is slowly coming to an end and just answer the last question. For how long the journalists can ask us their questions? It was not said, but it is quite interesting, isn’t it?
