Miles Jacobson cross-examined
For some time now we've been witnessing SI's marketing offensive - films promoting Football Manager 2009, interviews with SI workers, and even a blog with information about novelties in the game. And Miles Jacobson gives yet more interviews.
Sports Interactive’s director spends recently plenty of time answering all the questions unsettling the fans, what is confirmed by the number of interviews with him. On the Polish scene alone there are two, including one on CM Revolution. Recently Miles has given a interview to a British website GamesIndustry.biz explaining by the way several interesting issues.
>From the interview we can find out that, for instance, the very first clip advertising FM was initially to be broadcasted on the television instead of YouTube. It turned out however, that the television imposes so many restrictions that publishing an FM 2009 announcement became unfeasible and simply unprofitable. Miles added that the idea of a YouTube channel came up on a party where he met someone working for the website who convinced him to this sort of publishing. Looking from a time’s perspective it seems to be an apt idea for over 650,000 have already seen the clip on the Net, instead of 50,000 on the telly. This year Sports Interactive used all the possible means of web advertising, namely MySpace, Facebook, YouTube, blog, podcast and a forum.
Miles devoted some time to FM Live, its beta testers to be more precise, who, as it turned out, simply love to cheat even by using the game engine. Nonetheless, the programmers are constantly trying to patch the holes that allow cheating. Additionally, SI director unveiled the release date of the first FML patch that will add some new options (you can read about them on CM Revolution) – it will be on the 1st January 2009.
