Let us commence the School of Tactics.

Thanks to the opportunity of self-publishing texts on cmrev.com I got the chance to share with you my experience concerning tactics in Football Manager.

The issue of tactics in FM is complex. It is mainly due to the number of relations and possibilities the game offers. Until now I had no possibility of discussing all these elements in detail most of all because of lack of space and time. Hence all my up-to-date publications dealt with selected tactical elements only.

The aim of the School of Tactics is to cover in great detail all the options and tactical elements present in the game with acknowledgement of selected player attributes.

Because of the aforementioned reasons the successive lessons will guide you through all the stages of formations, options and relations.

Therefore the first lessons will be aimed most of all at beginners and will cover introducing and explaining basic formations available in the game, using different available options as well as main principles of player selection. Basic rules and regularities will also be discussed.

In the course of time we shall proceed to more advanced functions and relations discussing player positions, individual instructions, set pieces and analysing players’ behaviour on the basis of their attributes. This section will be dedicated to intermediate users. We will learn to use match stats and pre-match opponent analysis.

The latter lessons will be for advanced users. During these lessons we shall analyse selected formations and particular plays. We will deal with relations to the other game elements such as pitch dimensions, the weather, morale, and, finally, opponent’s tactics. In this part we will devote some time to presenting some tactical tricks.

I hope that everyone will find something for himself, and the beginner who wishes to follow us through the entire course will soon become advanced players.
